We're seriously excited to reveal that 2009 Shorts winner Luke Snellin is today announcing his upcoming feature film, The Wanderers, produced by 2AM Films.
Continuing on from the sucess of Mixtape and Disco, Luke has once again cast young British actor Bill Milner (of Son of Rambow fame) to play the lead. As always, 90's britpop takes centre stage, this time with an amazing soundtrack of original music played by Tim Wheeler (Ash), Emmy the Great (Austenland), and Graham Coxon (Blur).
Set in the summer of 1996, The Wanderers follows 16 year old Jonny Bowen encountering love and sex for the first time, just as his band strives to become the next big thing.
Also attached to the film are Ian Broudie (The Lightning Seeds), Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy), with more to be announced soon.
We couldn't be happier for Luke and we'll definitely be the first ones in the cinema queue when it's released (and the first to buy the outstanding original soundtrack, too) - after seeing how much warmth and toe-tapping nostalgia Luke can squeeze into a few minutes on screen, just imagine what he can do in an hour and a half!
